Quite a few competitors have already secured norms and plenty are still fighting for theirs!
IM Jacek Stopa (2544) has already secured his GM norm.
WGM Zhansaya Abdumalik (2379) has secured an IM norm and if she wins in the 9th round she will secure a GM norm!
FM Johan-Sebastian Christiansen (2340) has a similar situation. He already has his IM norm from this tournament but will get GM norm with a win in the 9th round.
WGM Sarasadat Khademalsharieh (2357) has secured here IM norm.
FM Daniel Bisby should also have secured his IM norm and a win in the 9th round will put him in a position to get a GM norm in the last round.
Local legend Áskell Örn Kárason also has chances of an IM norm but he will need to finish strong since he took a bye in the 3rd round.

IM Jón Viktor Gunnarsson despite cooling of in last few rounds will secure his GM norm if he can beat FM Tiboro Kende Antal (2317) in the 9th round!
