Top seeded Grandmaster Amin Tabatabaei has moved into the sold lead after four rounds at the Reykjavik Open. Other top boards ended with draws so Tabatabaei was able to create a little bit of a tiny buffer at the top of the standings. It’s still early days and there is a large pack of players with 3,5, after the four rounds.
Amin’s young opponent erred early after some king side aggression with. 15.Rh1?
Amin was alert and found 15…Bg4! and one could say the rest was technique! Deac escaped from most probably a lost position with a and other top seeds had to concede draws as well. Ivanchuk managed a win in his game and pulled closer to the top again.

GM VIgnir Vatnar remains more or less the only Icelandic hope to challenge for top honors, he beat local youngster Oskarsson in a hard fought game.
Eric De Winter plays the Reykjavik Open every year and has for a long time now. He got paired against streamer Tamara Kadovic for the second year in a row! This time was for sure memorable, Eric managed a nasty swindle!
Eric has a lost position at this point but punted with 26.b4!? and Tamara lost her focus here and played 26…Qxb4?? 27.Qxb4 Nxb4
White has the brilliant 28.Rf8+! Rxf8 29.Ne7+ and in an unreal way black can’t escape the perpetual despite being massive amounts of material up!
